“Coach teachers in and model incorporation of research-based best practices in instructional design when planning technology-enhanced learning experiences” – ISTE Coaching Indicator 2f
In the course of my studies in the Digital Education Leadership program at SPU, I would say that one of my most direct experiences with regards to ISTE Coaching indicator 2f, was in designed a technology enhanced learning experience for my students. I discuss this experience in my post on my Collapse Project and elaborate on the entire process in my report on the project for my EDTC 6102 class (see below). What I experienced relative to the standard was the application of the “Understanding by Design” model by Grant Wiggins and Jay McTighe (2005). Key to the implementation of this approach was the the “backwards design” philosophy. By starting with the the desired student results and working backwards, I was able to incorporate some research-based best practices into my technology-enhanced lesson.
